Virtual switch

Post by tobbe »

Hi

I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a virtual switch as an item?
My problem is I have a few serially controlled relays (24 to be exact) and it would be very handy to have an item, where you can define for example "ON=exec /home/serial1_1 on" "OFF=/home/serial1_1 off".
It would then also be possible to include them in lampgroups to turn them on or off.
I currently use ActionButtons, but this is really inflexible....
Or does something like this exist and I'm just too blind to see it??

This is an excellent idea. There is no such Item yet (I did not think of it). I will implement it right away. Traditionally Items that turn things on and off are called Lamps in OpenNetHome, so I will probably call it CustomLamp or something similar.

Ok, a brand new shiny HomeItem called CustomLamp is now in the latest nightly build. Please try it out, and tell me if it is what you needed.
