OpenNethome - an open home automation project

Is there any functionality in the OpenNethome server project for creating a secure remote connection?
Or is the only way to open up port forwarding in my router?

Currently, this is the only way. I am however working on a separate cloud access service that does not require any configuration in your router or any other separate installation of local software.
